In the late 90s i saw an applebees ad for all u can eat riblets. After 2 baskets which were mostly fries, they said thats all u can eat. Boycotted applebees ever since. F@CK applebees. Almost got the boot from armadillo willys for takin out 26 ribs lol ate more than my 300+lb buddies on mondays all u can eat rib nite. Shoulda seen the plate of bones from the three of us. Man I shat a cement truck when I got home ow As long as wendys has the frosty thatll be my fave, those things are like crack shem
I stopped eating at Chipotle when they "asked" people not to bring guns in their stores. At first I thought it was an outright ban, but according to more recent sources the corporation has stated that their stores will comply with all local laws. This means that if open carry is allowed then they will comply, but they ask people not to do it. The same with concealed carry. So despite what Bloomberg wants you to believe it's not a ban. It's a very fine line that Chipotle is walking.

You make some interesting choices....maybe they knew what would happen.
Jack in the box dropped the swiss and bacon burger. I love the rye bread and the sauce. Stopped eating there for a few years because I reflexed and looked for the burger each time and I felt put out.
I stopped going to Baker's (California based Mex-American food), Long John Silver's and Jack In The Box.
Why? Because there are none within an hour of me.
I stopped eating at Denny's. I'd rather go to Bee's or Village Inn. Both make food that is way better than Denny's.
I tried to eat at a In N Out once, but had to stop before I started. Why? They don't have mayonnaise.
I stopped eating God Fathers Pizza. Why? we moved back to California when I was young and they didn't have them there. After living here a while I noticed one across town and had planned to go. But by the time I got over there next with the intent, it had closed.
I could go on. There are many places i don't eat anymore, most because of geographical reasons. I don't really do Domino's, Pizza Hut or Papa John's Pizza anymore either. I buy Papa Murphy's and take it home to cook myself. Same with Little Ceaser's. My wife still likes it but it's not the same as it was back in the Pizza Pizza days.
I have not eaten a fast food burger in more years than I can remember. I will always opt for a non-chain restaurant whenever available. I enjoy sampling different and unusual foods.

True, though if its not a chain many people on a forum may not have heard of it
I've been noticing a trend at the grocery store lately, If I find something I really like, It's doomed, a recent example, I shop at King Soopers. (a Kroger chain), last year the butcher dept had these great stuffed chicken breasts, now they don't... another from a couple of years ago, Kraft came out with a modern take on Shake and Bake, had several versions that were grubbin'... next thing I know, they're gone.

Same thing happens to the wife and I. Our example, 8 o'clock coffee. Got all hooked on it, then it became almost impossible to find. I get to some places where I can get it... And we order it online and get it sent to the house, but it's scarce.
NO they are not Gary. Not even close. Do not speak such blasphemy.
The bun on Krystal is almost twice as thick as WC and they don't steam them along with the burgers. Krystal doesn't brown their onions and to add insult to injury, they even squirt MUSTARD on their burgers. That's just wrong.
I managed to get in two visits to White Castle while I was in Indy last week and I'm a happy man!

Anybody here travel and have weird chain restaraunt food?
My first McSpaghetti sight was when I was living in the Philippines. They cut up hot dogs and dropped them into a sauce/noodle combo. I never ate any but did laugh when I saw the actual ingredients.
I lived in mainland China for a while and ate at a lot of Chinese restaurants. In many of the places I was the only foreigner in town so none of my food was Americanized. These restaurants have a much wider selection of food than in US type Chinese restaurants and a fair portion of the seafood and fish are kept in tanks so you can choose which specific critter you want to eat. Sea slugs were one of the more exotic dishes that I remember well enough to be impressed by it.
I found very little food that resembled American Chinese cuisine but thoroughly enjoyed about 95% of the authentic Chinese food I ate (and it was a lot of it). American Chinese varieties of food are somewhat disappointing to me now in the various restaurants that I have tried in the US.
The chair of the California Democratic Party set off a social-media spark yesterday that’s ignited a full campaign urging diners to boycott burger chain In N Out. Eric Bauman tweeted a link to a Los Angeles Magazine story that reveals In-N-Out donated $25,000 to the California GOP this week, ahead of what’s expected to be a contentious midterm election.
surely you jest....Krystals ? not even close to the greatness of white castle's...just an 2nd class ripoff....and yeah, we have Krystals in Memphis. tastes like cardboard.......
I stopped eating fast food back in my 20's. Its just crap junk "food".. Plus the fact that is not really that "fast" or cheap anymore compared to a average restaurant its not even worth it.
I'm on the verge of boycotting McDonald's. I like their breakfasts.... just not their regular food. But I'm finding more and more, there's a wide discrepancy in prices for the same item at different locations all withing the same area. Why is the Bacon Egg & Cheese Biscuit combo with w Diet Coke $5.07 at the restaurant here by my office, but its $5.29 or $5.79 or $6.29 at various other locations withing just a couple miles from here? Its not due to the size of the cup they provide for the drink - for example, the $6.29 place gives me a Medium cup but the others give a Large...

I’m sitting in Shanghai writing this, waiting on my new work visa. I just ate at Burger King. I’m not eating noodles for breakfast if I can help it. I’ve found most Chinese food is not edible. Everything has bones. Strange spices. The exception for me was the hot pot restaurants. I went to a beef hot pot and chowed down. A tad bit pricey in Shanghai, much better outside the city. But overall I am not a fan of “true” local cuisine. Care for a rabbit head? Chicken feet? Cow stomach soup? 🤢
I try not to eat at filthy places. When my shoes stick to the floor, the tables aren't clean, the silverware sets around collecting grease and dust, and the bathroom looks like a sewer, it's time to leave. When a sudden movement of a chair results in a scurry or roaches and/or rats, it's time to leave. Chinese food here is hardly recognizeable. No matter what you order, it seems they just use whatever is left over in the pot. Hot-braised chicken, for example, is mostly batter. I have no idea how these places in any country are allowed to operate. Generally, they are filthy. Worse yet, you aren't supposed to eat the outside of the buns, because they're dirty. I cannot get a good explanation on why. So, I have to peel off the skin of the buns. I have the opinion that most of the meats are the cheap cuts. Some of the beef is just very low quality, but other beef is just stringy, tasteless....yuk.
KFC used to have great mashed potatos, but apparently they changed their recipe. Olive Garden used to have great food. I do not care for it, now.
I will avoid places that serve Asian food, not only because of what I can see, but because they put things in their food that I would choose not to eat. White Castle used to have pulled pork burgers. They discontinued that item, so I discontinued my patronage. Bandanas is hit and miss, so I only go once every few years. I really cannot tell about the Mexican places. The food always tastes spoiled. Some of the Greek restaurants are OK. Most of the Italian and French places are OK, but I don't care for Italian food. Pio's has tiny, dirty restrooms, though. DeBaldo's has really good food, and is very entertaining, but the staff is usually doing drugs, so I won't go back. Le Bon Bouchet is WAY overpriced. The problem with French places, is that their food must only taste good if consumed with the correct wine, whatever that may be.
Captain D's is terrible. Not going back. Jack in the Box tastes like slop. McD.'s is OK in good neighborhoods in the US. Never going to eat at Burger King (raw burgers) or McD.'s (spoilt food) anywhere in Asia again. KFC has different tastes outside the US. Their meat is lower quality in some countries, and it's fixed/slaughtered differently, as well as being served with different sides.
I quit going to Hardees, for a while, because they dropped the double frisco thuckburger.
I quit going to Old Country Buffet when they changed to Hometown Buffet, because the food tastes like it has been sitting out a few days too long.
I quit going to Golden Trough, because the food gives me the runs. We (a group of 22 people) have been to 4 different locations, and we all got sick. Vomiting, runs, fever, etc. Different for different people. Some of us got sick that evening, but others not until the next morning.

I stopped going to Hardee's when they stopped providing napkins with drive-thru orders. After not getting a napkin a few times, I started checking, so I could ask for a napkin. The lady told me their policy is not to give napkins at the drive-thru unless the customer asks!
This was a long time ago, before they became a part of Carl's Jr.

Could be just an area where people will pay more, could be the city in that area charges MCds more to be there.
Its like gasoline, if it matters, go to the cheaper one if the product is the same.

When at a buffet it helps to hand sanitize when you get back from touching all the ladels. Maybe some patron had some illness.
But Golden Corral I have only been to twice I think, not because of the food, but because they aren't even up in MN from what I can tell.

Either cost saving technique, or they were "going green" early!
Anybody else heard recently that fast food might get rid of plastic straws to save the environment? I heard this while I was at Panera Bread Co. while on a road trip, a place my wife likes. I looked down at the plastic straw and the plastic cup and the plastic lid, and thought, the straw is probably the smallest thing here made of plastic. But yeah I realize most fast food places have wax paper cups, though the lids are plastic. I later noticed Subway has sippy cup lids for their cups, though they still have straws too.

I was in Massachusetts a few weeks ago and the Subway there gave me my sandwich in a paper bag, which I'd never seen before. I figured it was a "green" thing. Cape Cod; surrounded by water, lots of places for a plastic bag to wind up unwanted!

It wasn't that long ago that all bags were paper and all the tree huggers insisted that we switch to plastic. Just like "climate change", this just highlights what is obvious to most thinking people: the enviro-nazis haven't got a clue.
I remember drinking through paper straws. They got really soggy and unappetizing at the top well before the drink was done.

indeed (1. used to emphasize a statement or response confirming something already suggested.)
I'm sure these days the paper straws will need to be made from recycled materials. Makes me wonder what the past use was of the particles I will be drinking through, and what chemicals were used to sanitize them, etc.

It wasn't that long ago that all bags were paper ...
I miss the large brown paper bags we used to get at the grocery store. Three paper bags would hold as many groceries as about eight of the thin plastic bags they use now. And there were a ton of ways to re-use the paper bags! About the only way I've been able to re-use the plastic bags is if I use them for soiled cat litter.
Didn't Arby's used to have regular French Fries? Our local one only has Curly fries now....
Days of yore. I wish more people would resurrect threads or have to stay confined to one. A lot of dead threads as a result of everyone thinking their useless news article is unique.
Who was it that used to spam about a hundred a week?
