Ottawa, August 24, 2020 – In its latest Provincial Economic Outlook, the Conference Board of Canada forecasts that the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic will be more prolonged than originally anticipated.

With unprecedented declines in economic activity during March and April, and real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) forecast to drop 12.1 per cent in the second quarter, the cumulative impact will drag Canada’s real GDP for the entire year down by 8.2 per cent, according to the Conference Board. Even with an economic rebound gathering steam in the third quarter, it will take until the end of 2021 for Canada’s economy to return to its pre-pandemic output. . . .

GlobalNewswire; August 24, 2020. From the Conference Board of Canada.
https://www.globenewswire.c...conomic-Outlook.html

It's good news and bad news. The good news is that these subject matter experts are anticipating a "recovery."

Partial lockdown is better than total lockdown.

If the government control "valves" controlling the various economic sectors and all other social enterprises and activities are turned wide open, to Full Throttle, without scientific and evidence-based guardrails against the virus, the U.S. (or Canada, just as much) will go careening down the vertical cliff face on the backside of Mount Coronavirus and crash at the bottom, some 14,000 feet below.

The situation at that point would be Total Lockdown.

"Just the flu..."

Man who believed virus was hoax loses wife to Covid-19

quote

Brian said he and his wife didn't have one firm belief about Covid-19. Instead, they switched between thinking the virus was a hoax, linked to 5G technology, or a real, but mild ailment. They came across these theories on Facebook.

"We thought the government was using it to distract us," Brian explained, "or it was to do with 5G."

Florida pastor who dismissed coronavirus as ‘just the flu’ dies

quote

Erin and her husband, Brian Lee Hitchens, were both skeptical of the virus when it reached the U.S. and began to spread. They believed online conspiracy theories, didn’t follow health guidance, and waited to seek help when they fell ill, according to the BBC, which featured Brian’s story in May.

“The news is emphasizing way too much on this coronavirus garbage, all it is is just the flu,” Erin wrote on Facebook on March 12, when she mistakenly believed that she had already gone through COVID-19 in the past. “I recently had it, I’m not dead. I’m not in the hospital and I’m fine.”

Now, since you stated the weak were one of the reasons the flu epidemic of 1918 died off, tell me (and everyone else here) how many were 'weak'? (you must know, otherwise you wouldn't have stated it) A number please, and something besides conjecture to substantiate that claim.

"some"..

Some is more than one and less than 24,393,868. There is no doubt that some are more resilient than others. The exact number ?

Using a vague term to define a thought ? Yet you claim their is "value" on every life, that other people should pay for either monetarily or giving up freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution. In case a small percentage contract an illness and an even smaller percentage die from, with an excellent percentage of recovery.
Would you sell your property and possessions to save an unknown life ?

It was said ... lock down for two weeks, ... a month, ... four months now(?). We have to learn to live with this beast.

Imagine if every death which had the common flu associated with the death was documented a FLU death. Would maryjane's cure for Covid also cure the flu ?

A simple question, which you should have known the answer to, yet once again elected not to answer it in any meaningful way, then again
began asking yet more vague questions.

*I have in the past and fully intend to again.
I made a profit of approx $89,000 on a sale of 17.4 acres in 2015, paid the CG taxes on the profit revenue and I donated all the rest in Jan 2018 to MD Anderson cancer research. When I sell the property i currently live on, our intent is to use the proceeds to buy a substantially smaller place back out west and again donate the rest to cancer research. Should be somewhere in the neighborhood of $200K toward cancer cure.
(see how easy that is Cliff? Question asked..question answered. You should try it sometime.)

I can always make more $$, cannot bring the dead back to life but I can do all that I can to prevent more death.
Do you have any more relevant questions for me?

That would be a question for an epidemiologist, and I'm pretty sure there are none on PFF.

Doesn't Hurt to Ask: Using the Power of Questions to Communicate, Connect, and Persuade

quote

Former congressman and prosecutor Trey Gowdy teaches you how to effectively communicate and persuade on the issues that matter most to you, drawing on his experience in the courtroom and the halls of Congress.

You do not need to be in a courtroom to advocate for others. You do not need to be in Congress to champion a cause. From the boardroom to the kitchen table, opportunities to make your case abound, and Doesn’t Hurt to Ask shows you how to seize them. By blending gripping case studies from nearly two decades in a courtroom and four terms in national politics with personal stories and practical advice, Trey Gowdy walks you through the tools and the mindset needed to effectively communicate your message.

Along the way, Gowdy reflects on the moments in his life when he learned the most about how to argue and convince. He recounts his missteps during his first murder trial, the conversation that changed his view on criminal justice reform, and what he learned while questioning James Comey and Secretary Hillary Clinton.

Sharing the techniques he perfected advocating in law and politics, Gowdy helps you identify your objective, understand your personal jury, and engage in the art of questioning so you can be heard, be understood, and, ultimately, move others. Whether it’s getting a boss to take a chance on your idea, convincing someone to support your cause, or urging a child to invest more effort in an important task, movement requires persuasion. Doesn’t Hurt to Ask shows you how to persuade, no matter the jury and no matter the cause.

This isn't a courtroom or a congressional subcommittee hearing and you are no Trey Gowdy or Socrates. Not even close.

You're more like this mother/toddler pair, with you being the toddler:

quote
[quote]I realized that for the first few why’s of every day, I was the model of patience. I calmly explained whatever it was to my toddler, sometimes even coming up with a playful metaphor to bring the point home.

But as we reached 5, 10, 20 why’s, my reserves of patience dried up. Not only that, she’d ask “Why?” for the same things, every day.

Please shut the baby gate when you go upstairs. Why?
It’s time to calm your body down for sleep. Why?
Toothpaste is for brushing your teeth, not for eating. Why?
Up until that weekend, I misunderstood what my toddler was really asking when she asked, “Why?”

She didn’t want me to give her the right answer. Giving her the right answer meant she’d still ask the same question the next time.

She wanted me to lead her toward the answer.

You're an adult. Lead yourself to the answer.

Here's a new and easy-to-read article that operates the flush handle and sends Trump's "The U.S. has more cases than other countries because the U.S. has more testing than other countries" nonsense down the waste drain and on its way to the sewage treatment facility where it belongs.

Something of a "read", but it's not anywhere near as long as some of those "bad boys" that I've posted recently that sent Read-o-Meter into overdrive counting up all of the words.

Actually it's not a new article. It came out over a month ago. Excusez-moi.

"Trump said more Covid-19 testing ‘creates more cases.’ We did the math"

That was cute but lame. Left out is, once the reserve of patience dried up, what did she / he do to get the "answer", or teach their children to get the answer ?

I have "the answer". I am trying to lead you to it !

That is a cool story maryjane. I am happy for you that you have the luxury to do that. What you did and plan to do is laudable. I commend you. Cancer is serious and affects many Americans and persons throughout the world. Too bad Covid had not reared it's ugly head. It affects every single American and persons in the entire world.

However my question was if you would give it all up, including your house and ability to get another one. Not all, (heh) most, or should I say some, have your luxury. They have no job, are losing their businesses and savings. All lives matter.
You also seem to have no idea of what the hardships people have to endure are worth. The value.

Since we are clamoring for position on the totem pole, We tithe 10% of our income to the Church, pretax dollars. Then after Uncle Sam taxes me, we also give "offerings to various missionaries which work with our Church. We also have pet peeve charities. I am happy to also have that luxury including my paying the employer contribution of Social Security to the income I earn, as a self contractor.

Yet you did still not answer the question of would you sell your house and home to save an unknown life.

You have refused to place a value on the Covid stricken ...

The costs of these shutdowns have been enormous, obvious and undeniable, while the alleged benefits have been hypothetical and speculative. As experience with the virus accumulates, there is, I think, a growing consensus that the shutdowns have been worthless, or close to worthless.

The facts are this: COVID-19 is a real disease that sickens some, proves fatal to others, mostly the elderly — and does nothing to the vast majority.

That’s it.

Then their is the death count. Revised CDC Figures: Fewer Deaths From COVID-19 Only

Now ...

quote

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a report late last week showing that just 9,683 Americans, or 6%, died with only COVID-19 listed on their death certificates, leading to a social media trending topic on the issue.

The other 94% of deaths were listed as having at least one additional medical condition linked to their death.

Yet you are hammering me for a number.

It is not worrisome enough for me to check the ever changing daily number, or even the weekly number. Also, though "some "may contract the illness, I can not predict how many. Numbers are just statistics and can mean nothing. That 6% CDC death count ? That's just for all covid related deaths, not cases of contraction.

When I see 10% of deaths, true deaths, from contraction, I might have a different view.

I have an online subscription to the New York Times and I will be looking for the NYT report that has been referenced in that OAN video segment on YouTube that has just been posted by Hudini.

Not sure exactly when I will be looking, but I am on Alert Status about this.

Surely, you understand, that the CDC's report in no way shape or form stated or even implied that 94% of the dead died from anything other than Covid19?

Millions of Americans are walking around today with pre-existing conditions such as heart disease and diabetes, and will usually live for decades if they are being treated and their diseases remain under control, but if those same people contract Covid19, many will succumb due to the added problems from cytokine storms..a natural immune response from our bodies themselves that in almost all cases, would not occur if the person had not contracted Covid19.

quote
A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report is being twisted by conspiracy theorists to imply the COVID-19 death toll is not as serious as it sounds, health experts say. In response, Dr. Anthony Fauci and other medical authorities say unequivocally that at least 180,000 Americans have died because of this virus.

And if anything, the figure is likely an undercount, say health experts.

"Let there not be any confusion," Fauci said after President Donald Trump retweeted an article that inaccurately suggested the real number of COVID-19 deaths is 9,000. "It's not 9,000 deaths from COVID-19. It's 180,000-plus deaths," Fauci told Good Morning America. "The point that the CDC was trying to make was that a certain percentage of [deaths] had nothing else but COVID," Fauci said.

"That does not mean that someone who has hypertension, or diabetes who dies of COVID didn't die of COVID-19. They did."

Maybe I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure that the person in the quote above knows a LOT more about Covid19 than you do..A LOT more.

I suppose I can see why a lot of people see those deaths as just numbers and statistics and not human beings. There is always a demographic that will always go to great lengths to rationalize death and misery if doing so can translate into dollar bills.
I don't really understand the selfishness and inhumanity of that behavior, but i see it.

Boondawg. You allow too many people to have "free rent" in your head, as they say. You know I'm not a fan of your life choices lately, but I'm not your dad, and you don't need to care what I think. So why do you care so much what another individual thinks?

You post a partial quote of mine with no indication of where it's from or who I was addressing (or why)... from a discussion that you had absolutely no involvement in. Seriously man, who's the one guilty here of "spamming"?

Just to set the record straight, since you wanted so badly to bring up a 4-1/2 month old post of mine, here's the whole thing... for context.

You could tidy it up a bit more by keeping the subject matter on topic.

I did NOT say those people were not human. I said they see the dead as just numbers and statistics instead of seeing them as human beings.

I agree tho..what those people really want is money with which to purchase 'things'. Like seed and paint, which are so much more important than preventing people's death.

MJ, I respect you, and I like you.

But as more and more information comes out that shows all of this was overblown, you continue to double-down even though you're being proven wrong.

No one values money over life... but you can't simply use that age-old argument... "If we could save just one life..."

Our country exists in large part BECAUSE of our economic system. It is very much in part the foundation of who we are as a nation. It's unfair to say that people going about their daily lives are responsible for the death of a few people who are already suffering from other conditions. Yes, we can all make sacrifices, and we have. But we're learning now that pretty much everything we've been told was a total exaggeration and a vast manipulation.

The country needs to get back to work, and people who are at risk need to stay home... period. It really is as simple as that.

So you have absolutely NO idea how this all started, huh.

Your second sentence declares you don’t like my personal choices in life and you still can’t figure out what the problem is.

Strange.

Here, I’m going to put to rest once and for all the mystery of how Boondawg went from casual to caustic.

It started yeas ago when I began to be PERSONALLY attacked for ARTICLES I posted, as if I WROTE them.

When that didn’t gain any traction, i was a accused of changing WHOLE posts.

When that didn’t do it, insulting my occupation, my family, and my choices in life were fodder for the cannon.

With the exception of a few members here, there were 2 types of members involved in this destructive endeavor.
Those that did the unconscionable bullying, and those that watched without saying a word.

None of this would matter to me at all, if it wasn’t for the continued blather these actors spew about standing up for what’s right and condemning wrong when they see it.

Everyone is free to be as hypocritical as they pretend not to be, but don’t piss down my back and tell me it’s raining.

A few here unessesaraly went WAY over the line of human decency attacking me for absolutely no other reason then to be total douche bags.

And a bunch watched, but didn’t condemn what they were seeing and damn well knew was wrong.

So I started using the very same tactics that were being used against me.

Amazingly, all of a sudden those that had no comment when it was being done to me had PLENTY to say about how unacceptable this behavior now was.

I wonder what changed.
Please.

Everyone here knows EXACTLY how this all started.
Turning casual interaction into personal attacks.
It’s just that simple....minded.

But somehow you and others all-of-a-sudden can’t figure it out for the life of you how we got here.

My recent distasteful persona here is simply a mirror-image of the very communication toolset your purposeful blindness approves of in others.

And now the Dr. Frankensteins want to blame their creation for being created.
Please.

I will stop reminding people here of that inconvenient fact when they admit that I have had less to do with how this all started then the instigators that started it.

My ONLY crime is fighting back in self-defense.
I will never apologize for that, not to anyone here, for sure.

I can’t help those that can’t respect that, as they obviously have no concept of what respect is, as evidenced by their past inability to act in a respectful manner naturally, of their own freewill.
Some people are just raised better, I guess.

Let me guess...”the ramblings of a brain-dead pothead”...

I would probably go for it, unless there was some specific reason to be wary, such as a high probability of lycanthropy or involuntary bouts of saturday night fever.

To quote myself from another thread.

When has a drug/vaccine ever been rushed through trials and not had side effects that were just as bad or worse?
From birth defects to strokes and heart conditions. Liver failure. You can pull the list out of thin air and its still going to be more accurate then the hurried test results of a few months.

Cigarettes use to be sold as safe and promoting healthy lungs.

I've probably had as many different vaccinations over my lifetime as anyone and with no ill effects, including early (1950s) polio vaccinations, smallpox, yellow fever, meningitis, typhoid, anthrax, rubella, diphtheria, shingles, and probably others I've forgotten and would get the covid vaccination , providing both my primary care, & diabetes physicians and..... my cardiologist (she has veto power over everyone else) recommended it.
(I also accidentally inoculated myself against 7 different strains of clostridium with single subcu shot of Ultra7....I didn't follow up with the 6month booster)

I read the New York Times report that is central to the most recent comments here from Hudini and 82-T/A.

It's not a long report.

I will be looking to see what more comes of it.

"Your Coronavirus Test Is Positive. Maybe It Shouldn’t Be."

quote
The usual diagnostic tests may simply be too sensitive and too slow to contain the spread of the virus.

quote
Highly sensitive PCR tests seemed like the best option for tracking the coronavirus at the start of the pandemic. But for the outbreaks raging now, he said, what’s needed are coronavirus tests that are fast, cheap and abundant enough to frequently test everyone who needs it — even if the tests are less sensitive.

“It might not catch every last one of the transmitting people, but it sure will catch the most transmissible people, including the superspreaders,” Dr. Mina said. “That alone would drive epidemics practically to zero.”

Apoorva Mandavilli for the New York Times; August 29, 2020.

I understand that some people don't wish to wear a mask... but when you walk into a store in a city (in this case, Calgary) where the wearing of a mask in places like retail stores has been mandated since August 1st, going full-retard does not accomplish anything productive.

Damn, I've never hit a woman... but if that nutcase got in my face like that... I dunno!
