WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump have tested positive for the coronavirus, the president tweeted early Friday.
Trump’s positive test comes just hours after the White House announced that senior aide Hope Hicks came down with the virus after traveling with the president several times this week. Trump was last seen by reporters returning to the White House on Thursday evening and looked to be in good health. Trump is 74 years old, putting him at higher risk of serious complications from a virus that has now killed more than 200,000 people nationwide.
“Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!” Trump tweeted.

The first thing that popped into my brain was if anyone knew he was positive before the debate. Because if he is positive then old Joe probably is too.
Now we see if the Hydroxychloraquine (sp?) Azithromycin, and Zinc do what has been advertised.
I can't say I'm surprised but I do pray they both recover quickly and fully.

Maybe I read it wrong, but I was under the impression that he had previously said he been taking both as a preventative all along. edit... Reading back in the news, it appears he only took hydroxychloroquine for 2 weeks back in May then quit taking it.

I think it's disgusting how some people will wish death upon someone, just because of a differing political viewpoint.
Not that I disagree with you, I can see people making a distinction between differing political views and somebody like Trump. Trump has made policies that directly affected people. Just talking politics does not reach out and touch people like that. Ruth is the same way, she made it legal to kill 10s of millions of babies. But I did not see the public celebrating her death, I did not even see people celebrating the news that she had cancer. Time will tell if the tolerant left is really tolerant.
You can't say Trump hasn't practiced poor personal protection. He has also encouraged thousands of other people to not to social distance or wear masks. Hope he does not have a serious case of covid-19, but I hope this situation wakes him up to how serious covid-19 should be taken.

I might be the only one who doubts the authenticity of the claim. Trump is down in the polls, the debate was a wash at best, he's losing some of his hard core base and all of a sudden, a month prior to the election, he claims he's sick. This gets him some sympathy. I'm not claiming to be for or against Trump (or for or against Biden). I'd say the same thing if it were Biden who claimed he was suddenly sick. Maybe I'm wrong in which case, I pray God heals Trump.

Exactly. I don't know of anybody saying that the Corona virus itself is fake. It's always been the media making it out to be something it is not. Funny how many forget that Trump was crapped on for stopping Chinese travel into the USA early on but now it's all his fault. A good, strong leader leads by example. They have the opportunity (and in some cases, obligation) to speak honestly, clearly, and seriously about a situation in order to prevent panic. I don’t remember your line of work, but when discussing possible layoffs, would you tell your team there is nothing to worry about if you knew there was? Would you want your boss doing that to you?
Going against head scientists, misleading or lying about vaccines and other treatments, and downplaying the danger didn’t calm the American people, it just made a large portion of the country not take it seriously. Do I understand the temptation to act as Trump did, hoping to basically bluff the economy through a hopefully short-term virus? Absolutely. But when it was clear it was going to be around for awhile, it was time to treat it more seriously.
A few nights ago, at the debate, Trump poked fun at Biden for wearing his mask everywhere. He fails to understand part of Biden wearing the mask is out of a sense of duty to the American people. He is normalizing it and showing that we should be wearing masks, because he knows he’s being filmed often. I’m no fan of most of Biden’s policies, but when it comes to leadership on this issue, I believe Trump has a comparatively powerful misunderstanding of what our country needs.

Well, I was going to listen to the medical experts, but this guy on a Fiero forum said masks were a hoax so I guess the medical experts are idiots.

Yeah that was the first thing that popped into my head when I heard he was tested positive. After the crap show that was the 1st debate, and how bad it made him look.. Well now he can potentially avoid another debate because he's calling in sick..
If he is really sick, i hope he recovers, and realizes his anti mask, and anti virus propaganda really bit him in the arse. I personally don't like to think in conspiracy theory type stuff where he might be faking it, but its impossible to know what is true or B.S. when it comes to any information from this White House.
