I first drove a Tesla Model S 5 years ago at the Tesla factory in Fremont. I absolutely loved it, and it's been stuck in my head ever since. A co-worker once saw me walking to my car and gave me a ride in his Model S, as soon as I stepped out of his car and into mine, it was like I went back in time 20 years. As soon as I moved back to Michigan a couple years later, I started watching the used market, seeing what was available, tracking trends, prices, the availability of service in the area, etc.
The right car finally popped up: A fully-loaded 2014 Tesla Model S P85+, with only 29,000 miles. Even lower than the ridiculously low 34,350 on my STI after 7 years. It was priced at just under $40,000 (about what I paid for the STI) AND they offered $24,000 in trade on it. If there was ever a perfect time to go for it, it was now.
The car was delivered this morning, I took it for a test drive around town, and went to Livonia to make sure it would Supercharge.
I now own TWO red, mid-motor rear wheel drive cars.
But the Subie still sounds a hundred times better than the Tesla.
BUT this Tesla has the Ultra High Fidelity Sound system, so the stereo sounds 10X better than the Subie.

Just out of curiosity, did you also have to transfer ownership with Tesla so they know your "home" location?
Try driving both, the X is pretty different feeling than the S
Working on the transfer of ownership now. In your Tesla account, you can request the transfer and upload documentation (registration or title, driver's license front and back, etc.). You can just reset the 'Home' location on the Nav screen. Setting up Homelink to the garage door opener was real easy too.
"To change the location associated with Home or Work, press and hold the shortcut icon and enter a new address in the popup window. To delete, press and hold the shortcut button, then touch CLEAR HOME or CLEAR WORK."
You don't have to, but it lets you do a lot of cool stuff. I just got the email adding the car to my account before midnight, so that was FAST. You can remotely check the state of charge, set the climate controls, lock or unlock the car, open the windows, open the garage, frunk, trunk, 'start' the car, etc.
If it had stayed the same, you and I wouldmt be fighting Don....It was a wonderful world once.
You could drive a Firebird to the airport, fly a commander or one of 6 prototypes, land, go ride a horse, go back up and take some pictures then spend the afternoon hooking a fuel truck to just about anything with wings....then jump back in the Knight Rider with Recarro and drive home again.
Then a bunch of muslims crashed some airplanes.....its been downhill for the world since.
I no longer give a ****.

My world has not changed much. I have somewhat, because I tend to look at adversity as a challenge and adapt to whatever life throws at me, come hell, and high water. I've re-invented myself a lot of times and don't regret it once. Success, I learned early in life, comes first and foremost with being honest in all endeavors, large and small. I'm an insignificant speck in the bigger scheme of things but one that lives to the hilt and have no qualms whatsoever at taking on new challenges even at my age. If I weren't going to be moving back West this year, I'd accept the offers and advice of people in the county govt and get into politics locally, tho my family tells me I'd have to learn to lie first.
1) people pretend their world and country hasn't changed much while the wealth of their progeny is being looted by globalists and being stolen by 3rd world invaders.
Their world is being turned into a surveillance and police state but since they can still file applications to practice freedoms, pay off government to remain on a piece of property and promise not to post politically incorrect things online, they pretend they're still free.
2) boomers and Gen Xers have especially lived a spoiled existence due to the destruction of manufacturing capacity of the rest of the world through wars, and additionally through the looting of technology and patents from defeated countries.
So, we've lived a wickedly blissful life through the spoils of war and through enormous debt. But now anything available to steal is being looted from Americans a trillion at a time. It isn't the Chinese nor the Russians.
For me to fap on? I like a lot of Boomers, and now gov't Boomers decided I am one. So you have to accept me as one of you now. My mom was born during the war, right before the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor. I was born in her mid 20s.I'm such a Boomer, right?

Ah, don't sell yourself short there. Lying to yourself counts. They probably meant you'd have to get better at convincing your audience.
I understand that threads take on a life of their own, but I suspect that RWDPLZ in no way anticipated where this discussion has led.
Yeah this went pretty quickly from a car thread to old guys lamenting the good old days to every troll one by one coming in and doing their usual shtick. Oh well, that's modern O/T.

THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS!!!
Ay, that was a nice troll of name calling. Guess everybody's in.

Yep... even though it doesn't make a lick of difference to anything or anyone, some people feel they need to stain every freakin' thread with their political agenda.
Even though you registered under this username four years ago, you weren't a presence here until a few weeks ago. Now you're everywhere, and know everything.
Yeah, that's why you're the one asking. /rolleyes Didn't find anything, huh? Been posting since I joined, just not here. Besides, we're all shut in with less to do but rile the unbalanced people up.
It took about ten seconds to ask what amounted to a rhetorical question... as I wasn't expecting someone who's been banned from PFF to give up their previous username.
Your own quote proves your wrong. This is the 2nd time you've presented the question and you quoted the 1st time you asked. Aren't you getting tired of hitting yourself? People out in the rest of the forum say that crazy people post in here. I'm here to verify the claims. They say Cliff has to keep telling people to knock it off. As you know I haven't posted more than twice in here before this fall or so. I posted something in here in the spring.
What I am getting a little tired of, is banned members of PFF who come back under a different username, and who then continue to behave in the same manner which got them banned in the first place.
If you can get away with it, the more power to you I guess.
So name 2 people who were banned and returned that you can prove. Should be easy according to your knowledge of the subject. I've been here for years now posting all the while. This isn't sudden like you claim. How much money do you contribute to Cliff for the board?

Why do you continue to badger me after saying you don't? I notice you're not badgering the people who started the political discussion in this thread, Maryanne and MEM. Isn't it time to stop the self-righteous facade? There is nothing I've done different than you or others are doing. You just don't like that I've illustrated what you're doing to me.

Thought about getting a model S when I was working, but never got too close to actually shopping. The range would be perfectly fine around town as would the Leaf. The Leaf is pretty unattractive. A coworker bought one. The company gave free charging for owners. Is that still a common thing?
Some of the older cars (like this one!) do have free lifetime Supercharging, but Tesla phased it out on new cars a few years ago, and removes it from used cars they sell that had it.
First and final update: Someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse on the car, over what I paid for it. If you haven't seen what the new and used car market is doing right now, a lot of used cars are actually APPRECIATING in value, it's nuts.
Not sure what I'm going to get next, newer Model S, Model 3?

Could always go back to the STI platform.... It'll seem crude and antiquated after all that tech in the Tesla!
A friend of mine bought a Tesla a couple years ago and I got a chance to test drive it. I do see the appeal! Lots of cool features.
I do miss the STI, but I don't miss driving it stoplight to stoplight in traffic every day, and there aren't any good roads around here. Maybe I'll wait until the new one is revealed in a couple months.
