The Facts By Howtohunt If you go out to the woods tonight.... Somebody saw something, ' I had the uncanny feeling of being watched, an overwhelming sense of dread, fear of the unknown. '
I once was camped at Sequoyia Nat'l Park...Snowed every day. I awoke one morning...To the sound of a bear cub bawling and pulling on the corner of the tent by my head- Slapped the tent to scare it away...then thought "Bear cub protected by SOW.....Who is now mad about me scaring the cub!!!!!" I was quivering with fear but slowly came to realize- that the cub sounds were a....Dream!
A friend told me about hearing noises outside his tent once- but he never did look outside to see what was causing them...SO I drew a cartoon for him;
Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson were on a case in the woods when night fell, as it was late they setup camp and went to bed. Around 1:00 am Sherlock woke Dr. Watson and asked him to ponder what he saw. Looking up Dr. Watson proclaimed that it was night and by the position of the stars it would be around 1:00 am. Sherlock asked him if he observed anything else and Dr. Watson pondered and then said that by the constellations it is late August.
The Sherlock asked one last time is there nothing else you observe and when Dr. Watson didn't respond right away Sherlock explained that someone has stolen the ****ing tentClick to show

Spoofing a trailcam. Would never have thought that up. lol ! That gives me a great idea, a variation on the theme, more frightening. He, he, he !
My cousin and his buddies are always doing it to each others cams. They are to the point of adding photos of insane deer onto the cards and reinstalling them. I don't think they even use them for hunting anymore, just some bonding thing.
About 5 years ago, my brother went out one of my game cams one night, popped it open, pulled the batteries and SD card and crammed a 6" long timber rattler in there and closed it back up. I ended up in the pond when I went out the next morning and popped the cover open. (He had de-fanged it but I didn't know it at the time)
Not sure what this was. River otter maybe
Have a picture from a game cam with the ass end of a running fawn on one frame and the tail end of a cougar the next frame.

Many years ago, after work, I was walking towards my motorcycle when I noticed a good sized rattler coiled up in the shade, under the bike. I grabbed a handful of rocks and started throwing them at the snake, hoping to scare it off, but the varmint was completely unimpressed. As I went looking for a nice long stick, I remembered that one of my co-workers had told me that morning how he had shot a snake over the weekend and had it in the trunk of his car....(*&%$@#$^&!

When I was in Florida we went camping at a "Resort" Took our tent and setup our site, no one around us. Next morning we were surrounded by RVs. How we didn't hear them or get ran over is beyond me.
We didn't stay for the next night..
I would not go camping again in Florida, too many alligators in the wild that do not understand personal space.
"The horses were nice, I could not talk my ex into going for a ride so we just walked some trails and went home"

The left end of the tee shaped lake is the Bennett Dam, top of the Peace River. The lake zig-zags west 80 miles through the Rocky Mountain Range, then, another 80 miles north west running parallel. The southern arm runs 70 miles south east to Mackenzie, and the Parsnip River. A man could spend a lifetime exploring the lake, time well spent, called to the wild. Climb to the ridge of Mt. Darryl, that was the name of a sitcom's character on tv, which I have never seen, but have read about, decades ago. Trekking through the winter snows to find tracks that appear human like, but far too large. Hmmmn. Looks around, a feeling of being watched, like a hunter, hunting.

Class... Class... Class... Class... My introduction to the comedy duo that made culture a comedy, and funny, more funner. There was this time in '70... Man, I should write a script, so far out there, hard to believe it's true. Never did see Ogopogo.
Go for a float. ... Went through there in the late '70s, that time the Trans Canada was washed out, turned back from the hwy 11 turnoff due to heavy flooding. Delayed for a day, when we passed over the repaired section in the deep vee of a valley, far to the east, I was amazed at the scale of the damage. Big rain, much water running downhill, a semi truck and trailer had fallen into the hole, 60' below the road level. Took many hours to get through to Wawa. I'm pretty sure that was the time I had a Ryder 25' stake truck, heavy. Painted Sky in late summer, the expanse of the universe visible at night, exhilarating. Great experience, out in the boonies. Solitude, Nature. Lake Nipigon, Ontario. Yes, the driving distance between Toronto to Nipigon, is 1268 km. 790 miles.
[ Re : 50. Re: Best route across Ontario. Hwy 17 or 11?? 7 years ago
I do longhaul from Toronto to Vancouver on a weekly basis, and from where Hwy 400 North in Barrie splits into either hwy 11 or hwy 69 which turns into hwy 17 there is only a 60km difference in the total mileage between Barrie and Nipigon where travellers are routed once again to hwy 17 to leave the province of Ontario. I myself use hwy 11 all year round as traffic is usually lighter, the road surface flatter and straighter and more service areas along the way with more than just fuel and accommodations. Unlike what most posters on here have said, there is fuel available in every little town along the way from Barrie to Nipigon along hwy 11. The only area where there is no services of any kind is the 210km stretch of hwy between Hearst and Longlac EB/WB. Yes there are far fewer passing lanes on hwy 11 compared to 17 but when you factor in that on hwy 11 your heading due north from Barrie to Cochrane and then due west from Cochrane to Nipigon, if you needed to pass another motorist on hwy 11 it'd be very easy too as there is no hills or curves as there are on 17. Y es there are Moose from time to time on 11 but mostly only in the stretch between Hearst and Longlac which being flat and straight you can see the moose from a mile away. Speed limit is 90 all along 11 but doing 105kmph is perfectly acceptable all along this hwy. with the almost of curves hills and drops on 17 you'd be very lucky to maintain 105kmph at all given the amount of truck traffic and campers along that route that are constantly speeding up and slowing down to stay on the hwy in one piece. So given all that, yes you'll be giving up lakefront scenery to a degree on hwy 11 vs 17 but at the expense of having a nice quiet uninterrupted drive on 11 with plenty of places to stop along the way OR taking hwy 17 which is very squirrelly and dangerous both at night and day because you'll never know what's around the curve till your already in it. Want to save time and wear and tear on your vehicle, use hwy 11....want the longer lakefront route with fewer services along the way, than try your luck at hwy 17. PS...as of Spring 2015, they have completely repaved the 35km stretch of hwy 11 between Mattice-Val-Cote Westbound to Hearst. The rest of the "rough-patch" from Kapuskasing to Mattice will be completed next year I do believe. ]

^^ Steve reads written eyewitness accounts to the ' Club of No Return ', affirming for those that have seen something, that they are not alone. You should so go for a drive up the trans-canada beyond Hope, trek up into the hills, seeking revelations. Bring food, they like food, dried fish, meats, fruits, nuts, berries, deer, elk, moose, rabbit. I think, I believe, that you have to invite the Sasquatch to speak to you, a mental telepathy experiment. A kind of Zen frame of mind, free of the clutter of domesticated life, one with nature. ' Yeah, like that. '

What your reaction would be on discovering the truth about Sasquatch, a revelation that we are not alone in the Universe. ' Inconceivable ! ' ' Stupendous ! '

There I was, hanging out, taking a whizz, when, like, all of a sudden like, I saw the Forest Man, I shrunk to an 8 year old, my nuts contracting back into my body, an involuntary fear response, quite humbling, standing there, holding it. I shuddered, astounded by what I had seen, trembling in fear of the unknown, unimaginable revelation. ' What the ? ' Yeah, scared to my toes ! Hair of my head standing on end, I could feel it, it was like a mental projection, from another entity, like what sharks can do, a highly evolved and adapted creature communicating by telepathy. ' Hey ! Get out of my head ! ' Yeah, like that. ' Man, that's some strange phenomenon, thought projection. ' I'm still shaking, thinking about it, so many years later, it never leaves you, it's imprinted, like, they can read your mind. But they love us. Get that.
In the deep swamps of Louisiana, there was a man folks whispered about. Raised on the banks of a muddy bayou, he was the son of a rough old trapper who knew the swamp better than most men know their own kin. His ma was gentle, but his pa was a hard man who taught him to wrestle gators before he could tie his own shoes.
By the time he was grown, he could take down a full-sized alligator with just one hand—and for good reason. One time, a big bull gator clamped down on his arm, thrashing like the devil himself. He didn’t scream or beg. He just thumped him in the head with his stump. Folks say he just tied off his arm, kept walking, and never missed a step.
His legend spread through the marshes like wildfire—some folks even claimed the gators themselves steered clear when they caught his scent. But the law doesn’t care much for legends, and one day a sheriff came poking around the bayou, looking to bring him in.
No one knows for sure what happened after that, but the sheriff never came out. Some say he just got turned around, swallowed up by the shadows and the mud. Sure can get lost in the Louisiana bayou.
The man wasn’t seen much after that. Some say he’s still out there, quiet as the water itself.

' I had this feeling that I was being watched, strange feeling, out in the woods, feeling paranoid, like there was someone there, hiding, out of sight. ' ' Great ! I'm playing peek-a-boo with a Sasquatch, and he's winning ! ' Turns out, they have a sense of humor, pranking hunters, scaring the living daylights out of humans, Messing with your head, projecting the thoughts they want you think, like, ' Run ! ', ' We gotta get outta here ! ', ' I'm comin' to get ya ! ' Strange thoughts, Alien thoughts, scared sheetless thoughts, running for your life thoughts. It's just not fair when they mess with you, mental telepathy, thought projection, real crazy thoughts, scary. . Makin' it with a Yeti Girl, that would be some experience.. Yeah, I'm thinking it's flipping cold out here, -15° C, 5° F, I'm guessing Sasquatch are underground in their dens, in the Earth, staying warm, under their deerskin blankets, sharing body heat. Waking from a nap yesterday, I recalled that scene out in the boonies, how they laughed at me, their prank stunts. There was that story of the fisherman, looking upriver, seeing a huge hairy man jump up to the top of the riverbank, ten feet in a single bound, disappeared behind the alders and willows, receiving ' forget me ' thoughts, which he did, for decades. Mess with your head, scaring you, me, playing with city boy's holiday in the woods. ' Manitou is a spiritual force in Native mythology of Algonquian people. I think he ran into the Sasquatch, that was thought projection, messing with his head, like magic, or maybe, technology that appears to be magic, mind reading technology, thought projection technology. Aliens, living in the woods, all natural like, green, one with nature, I would imagine that their relationship with indigenous people was as strange, teaching them how to hunt. 100K years ago, how to hunt bison, defend against giant bears, sabretooth tigers, how to start fires, important knowledge for survival. Yeah, they'll mess with us, but they love us.
