I kinda miss my 2014 STI, but I don't miss daily driving it. It was a solid 7/10 car, but there was lots of room for improvement. I drove a 2001 2.5RS years ago, that car with the STI engine and Brembo brakes would have been great.
I also don't see Subaru doing an EV STI properly, they have ruined everything they've touched in the past few years, especially the new WRX and especially their new EV Solterra, their executives are brain-dead or trying to run the company into the ground.
I'm guessing the overwhelmingly bad reception the new WRX received led them to killing the STI version, although given how bad it is, I wonder if they did it intentionally to kill off their performance cars and concentrate on their outdoorsy cars for normal people.

I alternate driving my '98 STi with my Formula. The STi is a wagon, so I use it when it's handy to have some carrying capacity. The 94 octane gas it requires is damn expensive though... especially now with all these current fuel price increases.

Are you suggesting that we're not "normal".

Subaru says it won't build another gas-fed WRX STI and is exploring an electrified version instead.
The 2021 Subaru WRX STI could go down in history as the last STI model that was powered by an internal-combustion engine. Subaru today announced that the gas-fed WRX STI is dead, but also suggested that the next generation of the brand's iconic model could be an EV. The company didn't mention when a potential next-gen WRX STI EV might arrive, either.
Oh, I'm sure we'll see a new STI sooner or later..... At least a new STI badge. They'll stick it on an SUV, just like Ford did with the new EV Mustang SUV. It's all about the name recognition.
For anyone unfamiliar with the allure of the Subie sound, maybe have a look and listen to this video of a Forester STi. The best part starts at 5:18... crank up your volume. I thought the guy was nuts though, going 220 kph (137 mph) on the Autobahn in the rain.
And that's how my '98 JDM Subaru Impreza WRX STi sounds (and goes) like too. I love it.

I drove 60 miles east of Vancouver this past Sunday to look at a potential new home purchase. The Subie felt so stable on the freeway, even in the middle of a downpour. However, I did not go 220 kph/137 mph in the rain, like the fella in the above video did!
