Just click on this video. I'm testing something with a YouTube account.
--------------------- Yeah, having to push a button every time you start your car is definitely a VERY "first world problem", its just annoying...
The hesitation is VERY noticeable, the system should at least not be 'on' if your wheel is turned... stopping for a few seconds when you want to make a left turn, your engine turns off, and then when you want to go, it *huh-huh-huhs* then you start to accelerate? That's SO GROSS. Feels like you are going to stall.
You SHOULD be able to disable auto start-stop on your car that you own. But it gets automakers an extra 1mpg on their EPA ratings.
It also benefits automakers in other ways: -Increased wear and tear on starters, increased starter sales, increased service center labor times -That 1mpg increase per vehicle means a raise in overall fleet fuel mileage numbers, meaning automakers can buy fewer carbon credits
They're win/win/win for automakers, and an incredible detriment to vehicle owners.
I have a 2021 Rav4 my wife drives and I just use it to haul a utility trailer for yard waste.
The auto stop/start is a pain.
I thought about just unplugging the hood latch, but instead picked up one of the disable products listed as option 3 in the video. Since she normally drives it I did not want to unplug the hood latch.
Easy to install, just popped out the switch, pugged it in, and popped the switch back in.
Since she does not drive much it may take longer than a couple of months to fail but I’ll update when it does.

I agree... it seems crazy to me to continuously start and stop the engine.
I really wish the Government would say... "We need you to achieve X mpg..." rather than say, "We need you to achieve X mpg, and here's how we want you to do it..."

I took a road trip with a team and the driver would drop the car into neutral at stops so it would stay running. Sure that gunning the engine at every stopped helped our MPG
Our '21 Wrangler with a manual trans has this. If you slip it into neutral as your stopping, it'll shut off the engine. As soon as you step on the clutch, it restarts. PITA. I'm going to try to disable it. Hopefully in software. If not, by gimmicking the system.
I've heard using other dribving modes, such as "sport" will also disable the system.
There's a few videos out there explaining why the system doesn't put 'wear and tear' on the starter (the engine isn't completely "off" on some of these) I haven't watched them. I'm just gonna bite the bullet and buy the 19 buck thingie and see what happens.
