I did not get a picture last night but here's one from Lubbock Texas. I had seen them before while at sea decades ago. Jane is angry that I did not wake her up to see them. She grew up in some strange weirdo place called the quad cities and has never seen them. Oh well, If ya snooze, ya lose.

I think she will get another chance soon...

*Launches a space grenade towards the sun*

*jots down some numbers and does some "maths"*

12 days from now.

nah, I didn't just launch a space grenade. But this sun of ours is pretty active right now (11 year cycle, bla bla math bla)

There will probably be another 'mass ejection del amore' soonish.

Maybe just in time for Election Day to knock out the grid and such...

"..... The cloud is moving nearer still
Aurora Borealis comes in view
Aurora comes in view"

I'll go look tonight, if it isn't cloudy. I've only seen it once before, and that was on a road trip, in North Dakota. Otherwise, we got too much light pollution here so it takes a bit of a drive to get to where its darker (and the waxing moon won't make it any easier).

I saw them once here in Vancouver, about 45 years ago. I was down at the waterfront late at night taking time-exposure 35mm slides of the inlet, and I noticed there was a flickering reddish glow to the north "behind" the north shore mountains. I thought it was light reflecting from forest fires on the other side of the mountains. Keep in mind, this was long before the general public was being made aware of coronal mass ejections!

That's a great pic!
We saw them in west GA too. First time for me, at 67.
Thank God we got to duck Milton and Helene

'Bout time! Ya can't put these kind of things off indefinitely, ya know.

I found a photo online taken on November 12th showing both the inlet and the north shore mountains that I had mentioned Here. The northern lights that I had seen 45 years ago were orange/red... hence why I thought at the time they were reflections of forest fires "behind" the mountains.

Never seen the Northern Lights, but I have always wanted to. I'll say this... if you could have seen these while in Marfa with the alien lights... that would have been something!!!
