===========================
I'm thinking of buying a used desktop computer on FB. This would be for my daily use but also to play Warcraft.
The problem is that I'm lost when it comes to computer specs and determining if this one will be able to run the game or not. As such, I was hoping someone here more knowledgeable on this could tell me if this computer would be good to get or not.
Thanks in advance!
The specs for the computer on FB are;
3080ti 12gb msi ryzen 9 5950x 32gb of ddr4 9tb of storage
The recommended system requirements for the latest expansion of Warcraft are,
Operating System - Windows 10 64-bit Processor - 6 Cores, 3.5 GHz processor, 8th Generation Intel®, Core™ Coffee Lake, AMD Ryzen™ Zen 2 Video - DirectX® 12 capable 8GB GPU, NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX, AMD RDNA™ 2, Intel® Arc™ 7 Graphics, Shader Model 5 or greater Memory - 16 GB RAM Storage - Solid State Drive (SSD) 128GB available space Internet - Broadband internet connection Resolution - 1280 x 720 minimum display resolution

That system would have been enough definitely, way more than enough in fact.
The system you were looking at is 16 cores, it is a ryzen 9 5950x, the first nine describes the category, how many cores/power it has, a 3 would be 2-4 cores, low spec, 5 would be 4-6 cores, 7 would be 6-8, 9 would be 8+. The first number in the 4 digit string after that (
5950x) describes the generation or age.
For your game you can look for anything Intel core i5 (or more, ex. i7, i9), or AMD ryzen 5 (or more, ex. ryzen 7, ryzen 9), and the first number in the 4 digit string for Intel should be 8 or more, and for AMD should be 3 or more.
The base processor would be an Intel core i5 8500, or and ryzen 5 3600 or so, you can get newer than that or more powerful than that, but that's your baseline for the cpu.
For the graphics card that's good there's a lot more to explain, but it's similar to the cpu, mainly look for the video memory, 8gb or more, the game seems less picky with Nvidia, so something with 8gb or more, and newer than say 20 series (Nvidia etc 2080 for example, 30 series next, which is what you were looking at, then 40 series, etc), for AMD they want newer than 6 series (ex. AMD Radeon Rx 6500xt is 6 series, 7, 8, and 9 are newer), any of those with 8gb or more should be fine.
You don't need 9tb of storage (I would imagine), most people 1tb is fine, I collect/download old radio dramas (green hornet, the lone Ranger, Dragnet, etc.) my computer is 512gb fast SSD for apps, 3tb slower raided sata SSDs for my data, and 4tb external HDD to back it all up, and I am not even half full.
Well hopefully you understand some of that, you certainly can save a boatload of money by getting lower parts, the one you were looking at is basically a few generations old but top of the line, and probably unnecessarily powerful/expensive.
