It would be super graceful, and the top half would be doing something ridiculous. Some of these robots, you can shoot one of its legs off and it will compensate. One of the 'dog' types, you disable one leg, it will calculate 10,000-20,000 places to place its remaining legs. crazy

Yes, I would. That'd just be the start, of course. Next step would be putting a hockey stick in their robo-hands and teaching them how to stickhandle.

That's where the stickhandling would come in!

In the final shot, it almost tripped over the small threshold. 😄

Nice.

If you go frame by frame, it looks like it should lift its foot up earlier in its stride.

It reminds me of elderly folk who drag their slippers as they shuffle across the room.

Nah that shot at like 0:32 where it’s a bunch of em is AI generated. Take a look at the back wall and you’ll see it warping and bending as they walk forward. IF The tech is as impressive as it looks in the video, they’ve got like one robot that has it, max. And it’s probably super expensive too.

OK LOOKING at it again, it might not be AI. But I still bet a lot of those bots are edited in. I seriously doubt they have that many

Not gonna argue about that shot - it DOES look AI, but so do many of the videos featuring robots the past year or so. Some more than others - like the Optimus robots at that tesla event where they spoke and acted TOO "human" - they were probably operated remotely.

So many of the drone stuff looks fake, like THIS one:

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/EEOfSyANuvQ

Think of the software controlling THAT many robots... Heh...watch the one straggler at the tip of its whisker at the beginning...

Most of the $is in the custom PCBs and components for the 'brains', the Actuators (motors in the Hips and Shoulders). Batteries, body parts, cameras, sensors, etc.

The more existing or standard parts used brings the cost WAY down. but those Actuators and servos... oof. costly. (for NOW...) they need to be able to support the robot (and whatever load it's carrying)

Decent "low-end" servos run about 900-1,000 bucks. - Volt's arm servos cost about 5 bucks each, and they have stripped a few times.

But our budget was kinda limited... heh.

"Robot repair" will be a side gig - Hope they make them repairable! (you can disassemble an Aibo using a paperclip)

Have a good weekend

When I was a little boy, Lost in Space was my favorite show....But during the last season I realized that the show had been ruined by letting Dr. Smith become the center of the show...He was a complete coward, an arrogant egotist, liar- and would sell out ANYBODY for absolutely anything.

A few years ago I thought up the perfect T-shirt statement for the show....."I would have SPACED Dr. Smith!!"

I didn't care for Dr Smith either. Also, they never went anywhere. Was always partial to Robbie, Anne Francis not bad either!
