Who: Car Craft Magazine
What: Street Machine Nationals (open to all vehicles)
When: June 28-30, 2013
Where: DuQuoin State Fairgrounds
Why: Time for CCSMN to return to DuQuoin IL
The Street Machine Nationals called the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds home for 13 years. However, the Family Events sponsored show was requested by DuQuoin city officials in 1998 to end the state fairground event due to city police being unable to control excessive off-fairground activities taking place once participants had left the fairgrounds for the night. However, this fairground event was legendary for its hardcore horsepower, cool classics, performance marketplace, fairground burnout and dyno challenge. This years celebration of horsepower and dream machines will showcase cutting-edge, high-performance street machines, hot rods, sports-cars, and trucks from across the nation. Along with a renewed commitment by city officials, police, and the public to be welcoming and respective toward all participants.
In addition to the cars, spectators and participants alike can meet the editors of Car Craft, take in the Miss Street Machine contest and more. Also, there will be 40+ pro judged awards culminating with the 2013 DuQuoin Car Craft Editor's Choice Award.
For those who want to register their cars you can do so now via
www.StreetMachineNationals.net or by calling Family Events at 317-236-6515. There is a nominal fee of $35 that includes an event goody bag, free judging, plus weekend admission for the vehicle, driver, one passenger, and any children 15 and under riding in the vehicle. Pre-registration runs up until Friday, June 21.
The Street Machine Nationals will draw thousands to the community spending tourism dollars in restaurants, for lodging, and shopping at local retailers. The economic impact from both the participants and spectators at the event is significant for tourism in the county.
